“Round two – Super Rugby”

Round two of Superugby saw the home sides starting to assert their dominance over the visiting teams. Brumbies had a great chance to lead the competition with a tough game against the Chiefs, however this was a bridge too far for them. The Tahs win against the rebels showed why they are the defending superugby champions! They made a few simple errors against a resurgent Rebels team this season , however they had the experience and quality of player to close the game out.

Crusaders bounced back with with a hard fought win against the Highlanders, the loss against the Rebels in the first round would have hurt the men from Christchruch, and a backlash was expected from them in round 2.

Hurricanes managed to sneak a win over the bulls at loftus, showing us they are a team to watch out for this season! The Bulls are looking clueless and can’t even muster a victory at home.

Stormers showed great resolve with a great win over a 14man Blues team. When will some teams learn that you have to maintain discipline with the hometown refs, who always give a 50/50 call to the home team?

Sharks beat the poor Lions, who i think will come last in the competition this year (again). The Lions are no more than a great club team with no real x-factor players. The Sharks also made it hard for themselves with poor tactical kicking.

The Reds who had a shocker last week turned the tables on the force who beat them last year at the same venue. The Force are a very limited in how they can play and will find the competition tough going especially in the latter stages of the tournament. You could see the delight on Genia’s face when the final whistle blew, how much that win meant to the Reds and their season. The pressure will still be on the coaches shoulders this season as he has not got any silver ware as a coach. The Blues coach JK must be in a similar boat.

Lastly i just joined superbru, with not a great start to my weekends picks, well maybe next week,

Look for my pool = Campo’s15

Ciao from South Africa
